Oakley Group Meetings

  • Held weekly: Thursday 10am
  • Room: Chemistry 5.013
  • Rotation of 2 groups: each in group gives a 10 minute research update, chalk-talk style (no slides, just speaking at the whiteboard with a pen)
  • Any other business (administrative stuff)

Hybrid Oakley/Chilton Group Meetings

  • Held weekly: Thursday 11am in summer (9am in winter)
  • Room: Roscoe 4.9
  • Currently run in conjunction with the  Chilton Group  (Australia National University) in a hybrid format.
  • One research presentation (on rotation), 25 minutes + questions and feedback.
  • Expectation: Presentations should be conference-level quality with an introduction + conclusion and acknowledgements slide
  • Every 4 weeks journal club takes the place of a one research presentation (on rotation; info below)
  • Coding Club takes place every 12 weeks (takes the place of one Journal club slot)
  • One person volunteers to present a coding/software tutorial for the group

  • Discuss research progress in the form of a technical report:  Template⁠ 
  • Discussion of anything else relevant to the PhD program (i.e. conferences, papers, progression targets, etc)
  • Brainstorming solutions and new ideas together
